This is a maple finishing press that I build as I have time at my shop. (I am a self employed cabinetmaker, 30 years in the trade). I have been dissatisfied with the price of bookbinding equipment for the novice binder or extra ones for the pro to use. This is my answer.
It is made of laminated solid western maple and is sanded/hard-waxed to a silky smooth finish. Handles are hardwood (birch?) and are glued in place. These are also hard-waxed. Screws are steel 7/16" threads.
Side to side between screws 15"
Opening size 5"
Jaw thickness 1-5/8"
